Hemant, Where Optical Xoom is ended, Digital Xoom starts, it is shown on LCD screen and you may have option to turn digital zoom off.
In SLR Camera Xoom is expressed as Focal Length Range like (35mm - 120mm). In Camcorder, it is expressed in terms of amount of magnification achieved.

You are quite right Kiran. I'm also very much impressed with that model.

Abhay,

I usually create VCD on computer. If you want to convert your camcorder video to VCD on computer, you need 2 softwares. First one to capture video from your camcorder on computer and then 2nd one to create VCD. As I understand, you have 1st s/w with you. Now, you need s/w that creates VCD/DVD. In this s/w you just need to import your captured video.

I also did lot of struggle. First, I used to capture video on computer and used to write on VCD but then it never played video on my VCD player.

Try it again.

Generally CD Writer software has in-built VCD Writer. If you can convert your video in mpeg format, you should be able to import it into the CD Writer software. May be size is the problem. MAke chunks of 650MB and try it importing one at a time for 1 VCD.

Kiran or anyone else, do you have any specific knowledge of softwares that convert video into Mpeg??? I was looking for a converter which converts WMV to Mpeg. Otherwise, any software upto 50$ which can capture video from the digital camcorder and then convert it into VCD format. Tried to search on Google, but there are a lot of costly softwares in the market.

Sandy, the softwares available on internet are mostly video titling softwares, which does compilation, adding effects etc what we see on channels such as MTV etc and hence the cost.

What you need is simple hardware card which takes in an AV input and captures video into mpg format.

The best option is to ask your camcorder vendor about how to do that. probably your camcorder already has some features which simplifies this job. (My Sony CC has a feature called as iLink [I don't know much abt it] but i guess it might eliminate the hardware part of it) Then you can just buy a software which captures signals from CC and store it to some usable format.

Specific s/w requirement such as WMV to MPG should be available on the net as freeware /shareware on download.com

Sandy, I have a Sony CC and I have done a lot of video editing and VCD burning. I use a Firewire card with Sony iLink (Sony's name for Firewire technology), capture video using ULead VideoStudio and edit, add special effects, sound, etc and then export it to VCD using Nero. Let me know if you need more info on this.

I have a Dazzle Digigital video creator 100. So far seems to be good. I could conver my old VHS to VCD. There was some mess with audio matching, but I guess it is almost sorted out. Does anybody here has more experience with it?
Any experience with SonyHi8 handycam?

Tush: have you used the software provided by Sony for transfer? and what OS do you have? If you have Win 98 then using the software provided by Sony, audio does not get transfer. But on Win2K or XP it does.

I have Sony DCRTRV19 and I faced the same problem with Win98. But with Win2K it got solved.

Tush,

Do you have a firewire(IEEE 1394) card in your PC/laptop? If you use Sony's iLink cable to connect to this card in the PC/laptop, your video and audio both get transferred using firewire interface.
This way you can use any video editing software such as ULead, Windows Movie Maker or Pinnacle. I've used Ulead Videostudio on WIN98, XP, Me and it works fine.

Tush: I have not tried with XP. on weekend, I have installed XP on my machine. I will try to download using Pixela ImageMixer (software provided by Sony) and will let you know.
But as Sami suggested, it is recommended to have Firewire card for better Quality of video and audio.
