Depends, tu to kuthe vaprnaar asasheel tyawar depend ahey. Anyway most of the TV available in Indian segment today can take direct input from cam. and are NTSC/PAL compatible. I don't think u have to worry about it. If u want to transfer things on VCR regularly u'll need one PAL compatible provided u r going to be in india.Usually PAL/NTSC compatible ones are expensive.

The canon camcorder does not have nightshot .. it has built in light ....

Check these PAL models, decent prices (I guess so ..)

http://www.dvdoverseas.com/store/index.html?catalog73_0.html

Or for PAL camcorder you can check some other sites like

http://www.phoenixelectronics.com/
http://www.mini-price.com/
http://www.freetradephoto.com/

One more feature you may be interested is color viewfinder. Even if the LCD is color most of the times the viewfinder is B/W. You may like it to be color ... ofcourse that means more cost ...

baapre, barach ushir jhalay hya BB varti yaiyala. tya muley ata jasti kaahi lihinya sarkhe naahi rahile :(

Amruta : tu CCD Digital naahiye, Hi8 aahe. Hi8 is close to Digital but NOT DIGITAL (between Analog & Digital). so be careful, stick to Digital.

ani AjitV says right, dont get confused between night-shot and built-in light. built-in light mhanje nusta ek bulb asto pan NIGHT-SHOT mhanje COPS serial madhye kadhi kadhi pahaila milte bagha, HIRVYA rangat aste te NIGHT-SHOT :o)

ani PAL/NTSE che jasti tension gheu naka. Asamya mhanat aahe tase aajkal deshat sagle TV PAL/NTSE compatible yetat, agdi last 3-4 varshat ghetlele TV suddha. aani naselch tar fakt Rs.10,000 kivva kamich madhye multi-system VCR yeto (nakkich 10,000 peksha kamich aahe). pan tya madhye ek nit paahun ghya, PAL format madhye VCR asto ani NTSE format madhye VCP. mhanje hya VCR madhun tumhala donhi format madhlya video cassette baghta yetat pan recording karaiche asel tar fakt PAL madhyech hote. majhya ghari hach VCR aahe ani hach ghol jhala :(

baaki multi system CCD middle-east madhye miltat mhane. majhya eka mitrani Dubai madhun aanla hot (Hemant, Sunil Deo re). US madhye jaam shodhle pan naahi milat kuthe.

baaki R&D jasti karnya peksha dole jhakun SONY cha ghyava. sarvat latest tyanchech models (CCD chi) astat :o)

(CRT) Cathode Ray Tube chya raster scan che prakar. TV madhe CRT vaprtat. Ani Vegveglya deshanmadhe vegvegle scan types vaparale jatat. Tyanchya frequencies madhe farak asato. Exact details aathavat nahit. Europe ani Deshamadhe PAL vaprtat tar USmadhe NTSC vaprtat. Germanymadhe aankhi kahi tari vegle SECAM I guess vaprtat.
So USmadhe ekhadi cassette record keli VCR varoon ki tee NTSC madhe hote So deshamdhe VCE var baghta yet nahi. and vice versa. Arthaat halli TV NTS and PAL compatible asalyamule tehi shakya hote. Pun u have to buy dual VCR for that.
Adhik mahitisaathi net war search maar.

1) What is Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom ?
2) If a Digital Camcorder can take snaps and can store in Memory Stick ( SONY Models ), why to use any camera for photographhy ? Camcorder alone can serve both purposes ?
Any info. is welcome.

This what I learnt using my miniDV Camcorder...

1)Optical zoom is what's achieved by actual lense adjustments and digital zoom is by interpolating what you get from optical zoom. Obviously, optical zoom is always better than digital zoom and most of the times gives clearer video quality. For normal uses, optical zoom is the one you should depend on, because for not-so-far objects, digital zoom results in something similar to what happens when you watch a 28kbps video transmission on full screen. The much hyped 100x etc digital zoom is only useful, if you plan to shoot some distant objects like mountains etc etc.

2)You can use your digital camcorder as a **digital camera**. The results are great in miniDV and you can edit/transfer pictures very easily. But, + and - of digital and normal film camera apply here.

Hope this was useful...

Abhijit01 : thanks...
Now, next questions ..
1) While using a Camcorder and using W/T for zoom, exactly at what point Optical zoom is switched to Digital Zoom ?
2) How to corelate the xxxX Optical Zoom/Digital Zoom to the Lenses used in SLR Camera ?? Is there any relation at all ?
