मी प्रतीक्रिया देणे शक्यतो टाळते पण माझे कुतुहल मला राहु देत न्हवते. तेव्हा राग नसावा शंका काढली म्हणून नाहीतर भलताच कोणीतरी(लेखक सोडून) उत्तर देवून वाद सुरु करेल..........
गोष्ट बर्‍यापैकी present tense मध्ये घडल्यासारखी आहे म्हणून हा प्रश्ण.........
hacking हा serious गुन्हा आहे आणि कुठल्याही company अशी गोष्ट झाली तर त्याचे खुप खोलवर dissection होते की कसे,कोणी कारण company is responsible for data security जर hacker is so smart then he would not even dare to come out in light just to explain that why he did so,be for naything. he would definitly know he would go in jail if company find it out. and while working as senior person shiva cant afford to take this lightly and just have this discussion over cup of beer or so.
I have seen when any previous employees leave the company or sacked from the company who was working at such a high position and was involved in desinging security, company has a policy to change all passwords, security gatewyas etc etc
my friend who worked in c, assembly programming where most security scripts woulld be written earlier ,he was very good at breaking our hotmail accounts passwords. how and why is interesting story that I dont want to get into it. But only thought we can not mislead readers about certain data. if the story is just an story based on imagination ,its ok I guess but this story is hightech IT field ,some may get paranoid if they read wrong info in the form of story too.Now a days, online banking, online shopping is increasing so certian info can be scary or misleading among general people .
I am sorry to have this post but just wrote what I felt, BTW storyline was good though though it required more detailing even though you say it is more technical based. .

भारतातच काय, जगात सगळीकडेच. इथे फक्त काही महिन्यांनी का होईना, एनरॉनसारखी प्रकरणे उघडकीला येतात. अजून कुठे काय चालले आहे, किती पैसे कोण खाते आहे कुणास ठाऊक?
तेंव्हा फक्त भारतात अशी काही वेगळी गोष्ट नाही. जिथे जिथे पैसा तिथे तिथे भ्रष्टाचार. हे सर्व जगात फार पूर्वीपासून चालत आले आहे. त्यात कुठल्या देशात कमी नि कुठल्या देशात जास्त हे कोण सांगू शकेल?

Manuswini is right.
I was surprised that Shiva would just agree to have drink with Ranjit.
If something like this nature happens in moderately big size company even in India, MD will ask Shiva to find person or resign.
In India in private company's you do not need proof(Not even in US) to fire (bossy is a proof enough).
They will fire Ranjit just for doubt unless Ranjit has godfather in the company itself.

खरे मी चुकीचे बोललो.bossy is a NOT a proof enough दुसरा कोणी रंजीवला फ़सवण्यासाठी शब्द वापरु शकतो.
मला म्हणायचे होते की रंजीवने गुन्हा कबुल केल्यावर it can be tracked down seeing his stock transactions and used as circumstantial proof.

On positive side story was excellent. There were not large technical gaps.
Just did not like part that such a intelligent hacker just make simple mistake of sending casual email and then admitting crime (even in private)

point raised by Manuswini is important and thought I should answer. The security norms in India too are getting stringent. This is story and I wanted to portray Shiva as one who cares more about his image than the organization hence no action in this case.
In real life cyber cell of Mumbai Police (this is at Worli naka ) is well trained (vijay mukhi was their guru). In India all companies with US headquarters have to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley Act ,so there is public accountibility. Also RBI has given deadlines of sometime next year for all banks to comply with basel II framework (which deals with capital risk).
Every organization has reputation to protect and every possible care is taken to secure the network and online transactions and thats safe.Before hosting such application many certifications such as suntone/BS are mandatory for most organization. My intention was not to scare or mislead anyone

PSG ने म्हटल्या प्रमाणे कथेचा वेग ही खूपच जमेची बाजू वाटली मला पण.
पण काही turms कळल्या नाही. share short करणे म्हणजे काय?
