Rajup:
>> "how Capital can be adjusted against cumulative losses "

Is this question we regards to losses in Stock Mkt as an individual or are you referring to Company financial losses?

Aashi: There are tons of sites which provide such ratings for sectors/stocks/bonds/ETFs etc. But every site has a different school of thought and different way of analysis.

Few popular sites:
1.
Barron's Online
2. Morning Star

You will find many more on Google.

I subscribe to Wall Street Journal online edition. In my humble opinion it is worth every cent. I have tried subscription to same journal print copy, but it is too much to read, costly and you can't search quickly for any particular security.
It is not just about investments but talks about long term issues in marketplace in general.

Ajay: u bet, but for someone who is a beginner, it could be overwhelming to get all that information and hard to read between the lines.... Although, undoubtedly WSJ is a gr8 source of market information.

I think your local Lib will have WSJ copy. And there is anohter weekly journal ( i forgot the name now) which gives comprahensive info about US market. (that too is costly $1200 pa, sometimes I refer the online copy from my Lib.) which has everything you need even with the target price after 2-3 months etc.

You can also subscribe to thestreet.com which is good.

That is about main/traditional journal. But a section called personal journal has some columns like "fiscally fit" , "Love and money", "tax report" and "Getting going" are quite simple. Infact I get amazed many time how these columnist explain complex concepts in simple words. For example not many publications tackle the difficult subject of how your outlook on investing can create issues with your personal relationships (whether with spouse, kids or parents) but you can read about that in "Love and Money". Or "getting going" has very practical, specific advice for somebody who is new to investing or have little money to invest.
There are several gems in WSJ if you are willing to let go your initial fear.

I think they offer free 2 weeks subscription, it is definitely worth a try. And offcourse "career journal" is completely free and worth visiting often even if you are NOT looking for a job.

It is NOT just a "heavy" publication as most people think. I suggest goto library, read the section "personal journal" and you may decide if it is worthwhile to subscribe.
