I am looking for a good SLR camera for learning photography. Can you suggest me something...like which brands are good..features to look for...lenses...flash...auto-focus or not...

nice site but can improve by giving other details OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS YOU HAVE TAKEN like filmspeed,f-stops and shutter speeds light conditions and filters used. As I guess you have not used any aditional lights or filters in any of the photograps but if you have mention that also.Onemore quick observation there is no article about artificial lighting which is very important for table tops and portraits

I wanted to shop for camera on the internet...but I am not quiet sure how safe it is. There are a few sites like www.camerakits.com and www.photoalley.com which have good deals.
Does anybody of you have an idea about reliability and safety of buying a camera online?

Try as much as possible to buy a Nikon camera. Nikkor Optics are the Best. You can buy a cheap body and it does not really matter. it is the lens which makes the photograph and hence be sure to buy good quality lenses of you want good sharp pictures.....28-80mm are a passe now...you can get good 28-105 or 28-135mm lenses which help much more than 28-80 because of the added zoom....

only problem (which is not really a problem) with more zoom 105-135 is the lense has more elements and in some cases could add some distortion which may not be noticable
Another problem is more the zoom less is depth of field in prtrait photgraphy it can be advatages for some as u can higlight the model and do away with anwanted backdrops
But its better choice than buying costly telephoto lenses
Anyone has good information on filters like polarizer,diffuser please post it here.I want to buy some filters
Pls suggest if i should go for lense mount or frame mount filters

I may be too late to advise you, but I know Ritz camera had some very cheap deals for Monolta SLR and Quantrey Lens.
Original minolta lens may cost you a lot, but Quanterey Aspherical zoom lens goes best with a Minolta SLR camera.
ALso buy a lens having range 28-135 at least. if you can afford 28-200 that's great. Also never go for a fully manual camera, with that nobody else can take your photoes at tourist sites. Go for a auto-manual combination.
