I just read Saee's post. From what I heard he is a very good artist and a professional. The images above, thought very nice, are amatuerish IMHO.


Please note - this post is not meant to rob the joy of watching/enjoying images of these great places for every Marathi Manus and Indian.

You probably took my views in a wrong way. And it is fine with me.

See, I know Thakre's website and we have also exchanged few e-mails, with 'photography' as a common link about four year ago. I have never seen any of his work personally but from his website he 'seemed' to know what he is doing.

At first, when I thought these are the direct scanned or digital images of his own, it made me say 'amateurish' for the following reasons.
1. For arial photography the DOF is the thing you are least worried about, and that allows you the luxury of higher shutter speeds. A newbie often uses flash-on-the-camera without any idea what he is doing. Thats what you see in all these images.
I myself have been a member of flying club at IIT/Kanpur and fly sometimes here in Germany (I work at the German Aerospace Center and have friends here who have the licence, unfortunately I did not make it at IITK). I have also made some images of the Europian Alps from above and know the problems plexiglass can pose. But there are solutions and a Pro, even an advanced amateur knows them.
2. After second look, check my earlier post, I think they are not the REAL images. They are photographed inside a museum perhaps by someone. The photograph named 'Raje' made it clear. There is no reason for a flash to 'bounce' in this image. And if you look at the right-middle edge, you see a flash bounced back. Clearly these are photographs taken of the prints on a wall.
2a. there are edges/frames in almost all the photographs, which earlier I thought are the edges of windows of a small aircraft.
2b. there are three extra lights, which could be from a 'four or six seater' aircraft but now I think they are from a hall where these photographs were kept.

So please do not misunderstand me. It is the spirit behind the image that matters.

tuze mhanane agadi barobar aahe, These are photographs of photographs. On thankrey's website, if you see the flash portion on bottom left hand, you can see the 'Janjira' photo in pretty good quality which also lacks the white flash light on the right which is visible in the photo above....

Deepblue, thank you for posting these photographs. Rajgad looks amazing! If you really want to see the beauty of rajgad, you should visit that place in the middle of rainy season.
Do you by any chance have the aerial photograph of Konkan kada (Harischandragad)?
