डोंबिवली फ़ास्ट हा चित्रपट मराठी चित्रपटांना नवे वळन मिळवून देनार आहे.
माधव आपटे ही व्यक्ति रेखा चित्रपटात तुमच्या-आमच्यातली आजवर लपून रहीलेली एक गडद रंग छटा सादर करते.
चूकूनही हा चित्रपट चूकवू नका.
"A story of a common man who loses his sanity in the everyday rut of life." A one line idea which developed into a script. Déjà vu? Not quite, if you watch director Nishikant Kamat's film 'Dombivli Fast' which releases this Friday.
The film starring Sandeep Kulkarni, Shilpa Tulaskar and Sandesh Jadhav is a first of its kind because it includes a total cast of 112 additional characters, each of whom got a role only after a thorough audition.
"We felt that since we were going all out to make a realistic film, why should we compromise on the aspect of casting appropriate minor characters," says debutant director Kamat, who has widely travelled in Mumbai trains.
The two-hour film, shot prominently in and around Dombivli, deals with issues and concerns about day-to-day life which all Mumbaikars face.
"Through the film I am trying to raise a point that we have become so accustomed to life's hardships that we will not even question them. Don't we have a right to even a comfortable mode of transport?"
The story of Madhav Apte, the film's protagonist who travels by the Dombivli fast everyday, is a tale which anybody living in this city could easily identify with.
An honest middle-class banker, Apte, disgusted with the system, loses his sanity and takes it upon himself to set things right, resorting to violent ways, thereby causing tension and strife to his wife and kids.
So what are Kamat's expectations from the film? "Although my target audience is the Marathi middle-class, I want others to see it as well. I will be releasing the film with English subtitles in the second week after its release."
Kamat is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the film reaches a wider audience. First, he invited columnist-author Shobhaa De for a private screening (he does believe in the power of her pen!) and today he is holding a premiere at Ravindra Natya Mandir with none other than Lata Mangeshkar as the chief guest.

A well known scholar of Indian Cinema, Mr Ashok Rane is visiting US. He will be travelling all over US to present his lecture-demo titled 'Singin in Cinema'. The details are as follows.

Lecture – demonstration about Indian Cinema
Title – Singing in Cinema
The song and dance format of Indian Cinema is discussed and supported by audio visual clips and powerpoint presentation. The issues touched in the lecture are
1. Why do we have song and dance in our cinema?
2. Influence of long tradition of specially theatre and then classical and folk music/dance.
3. How ‘song and dance’ is more than just entertainment. How it becomes part and parcel of cinematic expression of Indian Cinema.
4. How ‘songs and dance’ have played as vital role as of important scenes in the narrative
5. Indian film music has evolved over the years. It has granted a unique and very peculiar identity to Indian cinema.
This lecture is followed by a documentary on this topic. The duration is 70 minutes duration which is followed by an interactive session.

This lecture demo is not made only for film students. Any regular film goer can benefit from this. So if and when he is in your area try to arrange his lecture. Also there is going to be a 'Film Appreciation Workshop' in Marathi in Bay area. Please try to attend the workshop if possible. I am not sure whether the same workshop is possible in any other area or not (schedulewise) but you can always try.

सुमित्रा भावेंचा चाकोरी ह्या चित्रपटाची VCD कुठे मिळेल का? हा चित्रपट कधी आला नि कधी गेला काही कळले देखील नाही.

रविवारच्या लोकसत्ता मधिल कमलाकर नाडकर्ण्यांचा लेख वाचला का?

डोंबिवली फास्ट चांगला चित्रपट आहे. लोकसत्तातील लेख मुळीच पटला नाही.
खरं म्हटल तर साधी सरळ कथा. पण एखाद्या माणसाची तत्वनिष्ठा, त्यातून त्याची होणारी कुचंबणा, त्यावर उपाय म्हणून त्याने निवडलेला मार्ग आणि त्या मार्गातील फोलपणा या सर्व गोष्टी फक्त २ तासांत कुठेही कंटाळा न आणता संयमित पद्धतीने दाखवल्या आहेत.
डोंबिवली फास्ट falling down ची मराठी आवृत्ती आहे का हे मात्र माहिती नाही.
