how to get around it?

It happens if there is a - }- in the devnagari text. You can change it to - ] - . It will just change the dIGa- }kar to áhsva ]kar

I had to play around a little bit to get firefox working. This is what I did 1. Install the character encoding extension.
(It adds the menu of encoding to mouse-rt-click)
2. In Tools-options-General-Fonts & Colors tag I had to change the fonts as shown in the following diagram.
This didn't solve the ts1 tag problem.
For the TS1, I had to solve it using Instructions at the top of this page.

Change browser encoding to Unicode (UTF-8).
I wrote this with Yudit and pasted to Hitguj. (Select Unicode encoding for entry and preview pages as well.)
Also, I can see unicode fine with Firefox. The BBC site looks good!

Samrya: Did you install the 'special' shivaji font mentioned in the header of this BB. Also perform folowing actions -
1. menu Tools >> options >> Click on Fonts & Color
2. Fonts For: Select 'User defined'
3. Proportional: Choose 'Serif' and other dropdowns as 'Aerial Unicode MS'
