Thanks for your replies.
my company is a big multinational hence they usually start collecting document 4-5 months in advance and file after getting the documents.I also want to invite my parents next year hence i want to file early.
Does INS give any receipt when you file for extension? Do i need stamped visa on my passport to invite my parents?
It is just a headache to keep on filing every year and waiting for approval though :-(

Ofcourse INS gives receipt after filing which you can request from your lawyer. See if they can file in 'Premium' (expediated) processing (lot more expensive though).
You can very well invite parents on valid H1 approval notice (visa stamp on pp is not necessary)

Thanks everybody,
Company lawyer replied that there should not be any issue for travelling AFTER extension is filed.

hi people, getting my H4 visa has been a mess. I am writing here just so that no one else has to suffer like I am.
If anyone staying in US has to change to H4 or any other visa status from the existing visa status, there is a simple one page form that has to be filed.(Form I 539)
I did not do that as I was not aware of it and my husband's company lawyer lied to us saying that she has taken care of my paper work too. We realised only after my husband's actual approval for H1 was received that now I am out of status.
I could still have filed a late change of status, but now I already have planned for travel to India and I cannot do it if I am not physically present in US. So now I have to go through the entire procedure of a fresh application, which otherwise was just a stamping that could have been done at any of the consulates in India on an earlier date than what I now have.

की फ़क्त spouse name inclusion on passport पुरेसे आहे?
