tyala jar accent samajanyacha problem yet asel tar,TOEFL chya cassettes, eikayala lav, kuthehi miltil aani ek diwsat hotil eikun .... shivay make sure that he uses land line instead of cell phone to receive calls.

As NK said above Toefl cassettes will help, also if he is using a speaker phone there should not be any background noises.
Also, while speaking he needs to make sure that he speaks clearly and calmly.One thing that i have heard a lot from american people is that indians(who are new in US) speak too fast. It helps them to catch on our accent if we speak slowly.

Avoide use of "speaker" phone, many time when the speaker is used there is humb in the background and also creates echo which, sometimes makes the incomming sound more confusing. so i would say unless you are used to speaker phone dont use it.
