obviously mazya bayko cha H4 hi. Mazya company ni maza H1 extend karayala takala aahe aani tyanchya mate maza H1 extend zalyavarach H4 extension sathi apply karaycha asato.. he khare aahe ka? what about after my h1 expires. As my status in INS will be applied for extension. but what about H4? expired? Can somebody clarify?

In my case H1 and h4 extensions were filed together. As matter of fact my spouse's h4 came one week ahead of mine, may be because of difference in mailing addresses. Once you apply for extension you can continue to stay and will be the same case if h4 is applied together. In H4 application it is required to furnish information about spouse's H1.

Samir as far as I know there is no way you can get it stamp personally. You have to send it by post to St. Louis.

Does anyone know what you need to convrt H1 to Student visa? What doccuments are requested for the conversion. Someone I know has H1 and her visa duration is finishing and would like to convert to student's visa. She is already in school here.

Get a I-20 from the school, get all necessary documents which u have towards obtaining ur I-20, cross border to either canada or mexico and re-enter with a new stamp F1. Just have all possible documents with you (bank statements, address confirmations) just in case if necessary. Best of luck....

That is not true. Many of my friends (5 to be precise) went to Canada and Mexico over the last 2 months and got their expired student Visa's renewed. Of course, all of them took PROOF with them that they had to leave the united states for conferences etc...before they planned to return to the country of their citizenship. That helps !
BTW: It is more peaceful to get visa thru Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana (for F1's) or so I have heard.
Some New rules are in effect though
1. The person HAS to stay in Canada or Mexico, wherever he goes, until a Visa is granted. So, if a security check is initiated (india is not on the list currently), then the person would have to stay in Can/Mex for 15-20 days, until the check is completed.
2. If the F1 visa is rejected, that person will be deported to the country of his/her citizenship. Automatic visa revalidation is no longer applicable for non-immigrant visas. Hence, if the H1 visa has expired, then it is a risk to go to Can/Mex. The person should go to Can/Mex before the H1 expires, then if the F1 is rejected (just in case) the person can come back to the states and continue studies.

Rewa: you need to have ur approved INS documents for H1 as well as keep a copy of offer letter from the company, along with job description, passport copies, photographs, etc....

One of our friends has returned to India after 2.5 years on H1. If another company wants to sponser him for H1 visa, what documents will be required? and what does the new company need to do for him? Any personal experiences will be helpful.

arch, since he has returned to India, the first H1 is as such of no use to get new H1.
ithech asta tar tyacha H1 transfer karata ala asta ani mag junya H1 chya copies laglya astya.
Now he will need to give the new company, copies of (his degree certificates and may be last year's marksheets, experience certificates,) his resume. ajun kahi lagate asa vatat nahi.
and then company has to file for his H1 visa.
