Hi, my name is Bhavana. I'm getting married in Nov and going to US after that. I have already recieved an admission for Masters from University which is near to place where in my fiance is working. Also, my current company is giving me L1 option for going to US. My problem is which one is suitable for me? I'm not sure about L1 laws and taxes and other rules and regularation. Can anyone of you guide me through this ?

are you going to do Masters full time or part time? If its full time, I am not sure but you will need F1.
If its part time, you better come on L1 so that you can work full time.

Savya is right however, if you are not F1, you are NOT entitled to any (possible) scholarships, assistantships etc.

One more important thing to consider is Tuition Fees. You will have to pay international Student fees when you are on F1 (for whole Masters). But with L1 you will pay higher fees for first year and once your residency is confirmed (exact 1 year after your 1st I-94 stamp date) you will most probably pay resident fees.

Savya, I have entrolled for full time course. So I can hold only 1 visa at a time, like L1 or F1. And it's true that I need to pay tuition fees which is quite expensive.
About L1, I'm afraid what if after 6 months down the line, my company says that we don't want you onsite? One option I was thinking was go to US on L1 now and apply for H1 through some consultancies. but again it's not sure that I would get my H1 in next Oct. because of lottery system.
