Thanks for explanation Ashwini, I am trying to interpret this as per my mind, at the same time, looking for the documenration around. Don't you think that we have whole new era of medicine to work on??? Just need right documentation at 'right' place. We shouldn't mail someone in Germany /Italy to find out what was said in Charaksamhita!!! (Our ancient religious documents are there in one of the Italian university)

You said, warm water and honey works as a laxative. My query is, what is the proportion, how much honey should you put in how much of water. please state both in mililitres.
When should honey be mixed with water? before warming or after warming.
Should water be boiled and cooled down to temp of 40C or so before adding honey or just warm it to 40C and then add honey, mix?

I had one query about buttermilk (taak) I know vaguely that there are 3 varieties of buttermilk depending on the proportion of yoghurt in that, can you please a comment on that?

not all fats are bad. monounsaturated, polyunsaturated fats are good. In western culture people don't have concept of clarified butter. fats from Milk and yogurt are considered bad In India also. My grandfather used to practice Ayurvedic Medicine. He use to tell us to avoid saaya AaiNa saayaIcao dhI. pNa saajauk tup p`maaNaat vaaprlao tr ihtkr Aaho Asao mhNaayacao. 10-15 years ago in India doctors used to tell people to use Safolaa instead of peanut oil. yesterday i read peanut oil is good since it is monounsaturated. Basically we need 4-5 servings of fat /day. If you use good fats but use it too much you are bound to gain weight. 10 small peanuts= 1 serving of fat. so it's very easy to get too much fat

A query,

There is a posting by swaticjoshi about a link in Sakal, which has few details about honey.

It says, honey should never be warmed up, as ayurved says. When I was studying pharmacognosy, I came across scientific literature which stated that most of the times, honey is contaminated by some toxin (I forgot the name) which can not be removed by filtering or any other methods. The only way is to warm honey to 80C and maintain at that temp for 10 min to denature that toxin.
On the top of it, the froth which appears (without vigorous stirring) on the top of honey at 80C should be removed.

Does anyone know more about this? (In fact, that is the reason, honey is not recommended for new borns)
